About Tenzing

Growing up in Pondicherry and studying at the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education, yoga has been an intrinsic part of my formative years. As a result I was first introduced to Asana practice in my teens.

Throughout my adult life I was into all kinds of fitness programs but I always felt something was amiss. I was introduced to Hatha Yoga in 2017 and thereafter in 2018 I finally found my calling and discovered the Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga.  After several trips to Sharath Yoga Centre, the source of Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore, I have been given the blessings of Paramaguru Sharath Jois to  teach officially. I currently hold Level 2 Authorisation from SYC.

My practice has made me realise my true potential and my outlook towards life has evolved into a more compassionate and holistic nature. It is therefore now a privilege to teach and share my knowledge of Ashtanga Yoga with those who are willing to learn.

The Ashtanga Shala Pondicherry 'Sangha'

The existence of a sangha or community has been a strong part of my own upbringing, something I have tried to extend to the Shala as well. While our regular asana practice is important, equally important is the people we practice with and the connections we form with them.

Right from its inception, Ashtanga Shala Pondicherry has given space for a community or sangha to organically evolve around the asana practice. Students have the option of having breakfast or a coffee (or coconut water) together after the class. We come together on festive occasions, meeting for Diwali, or Christmas, or even share potluck when there’s no ‘occasion’! And most recently, a group of us travelled together to Mysore for the February 2025 season to practice at SYC.
